Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 11:30 AM–10 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (646) 590-2556. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is casalouienyc.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in New York peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. I cannot say enough good things about my meal at Casa Louie! Their menu is so friendly for gluten-free folks. I ordered the rigatoni vodka with the gluten-free bucatini. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and it was so nice to have a gluten-free noodle that wasn't penne for once (not that I mind penne)! The sauce was the perfect balance of savory and creamy, and the dollop of ricotta had a hint of refreshing lemon. AND their desserts can be made gluten-free as well! I haven't been able to eat tiramisu in years, and I was able to do so here. Our server, Kelly, was also so friendly and helpful!

We had dinner at Casa Louie and accidentally discovered it was Restaurant Week, which turned out to be a great surprise! Everything we ordered was delicious, and we also enjoyed a few creative cocktails including the Louie Spritz and a Sicilian Spritz, that were just as impressive as the food. The Caesar salad was fresh, the cheese pizza had the perfect thin, crispy crust, and the Hot Louie pizza completely stole the show. The combination of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors was unforgettable and unlike any pizza we’ve had before. The chicken Parmesan was excellent, the fried zucchini was light and crispy, and the meatballs were tender and full of flavor. We also sampled several desserts, and while they were all good, do not leave without trying the cheesecake. It was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back, Restaurant Week or not!

This place is highly recommended. The service was delightful. Our waiter, Ben, was incredibly welcoming and pleasant to chat with. We’ll definitely be coming back. The food was delicious and hot off the kitchen. We started with the broccolini and zucchini appetizers, and for the main courses, we ordered gnocchi, cacio e Pepe, an Italian sandwich, and lastly, tiramisu!

As a gluten-free girlie, I was so pleasantly surprised by Casa Louie. All of their small plates are gluten-free, along with most of their main dishes, which is such a win! I ordered the chicken parmesan and wow…it was absolutely delicious. Even my mom tried it and couldn’t tell the difference! We also shared the burrata with pistachio pesto, which I highly recommend. My mom had the eggplant parm (also gluten-free), which was good, but the chicken parm was definitely the winner winner chicken dinner 😉 The ambiance is adorable, and they have a beautiful bar that’s perfect for grabbing a drink if you’re in the area.

HOT TIP if you’re at an event or conference at Javits: skip the food court and food carts and walk a block down to Casa Louie - you will thank me later! Really cool atmosphere that blends old school and new school, great natural light, great service. We had pizza and calamari, which were fantastic! Pizza was perfectly cooked with a nice just crispy enough undercarriage so it wasn’t floppy. Server hand grated the Parmesan onto our pizza which was such a nice touch. The food at other tables including pasta and salads looked amazing as well. Highly recommend!
